hey i saw the link on what sprint apps were safe to remove. but how do you remove them? kind of new to this android thing. thanks

Here you go use this, probably easiest way to go about it -

but read up on it - I believe you have to be rooted. Or you can always root and then Flash Fresh Rom and it takes out most sprint stock apps for you.

Read the entire first post, root, and go fresh.

great guide, i just got my hero today and i already rooted it. not sure if i want to flash a custom rom yet or not? can't apps2sd work with the standard rom?

Yes, but it doesn't work so well. Modaco is stock with A2SD2 basically. I suggest that if you like stock. I actually heard it was FAST too.

does anybody have a working link 2 Amon RA Recover Image 1.2.3. The link on the first page is broken 4 me.

Me too it was your reviews and general good words about this device that pushed me over the edge, and after only 2 days without lockups and some pretty cool apps, I am very glad I made the jump. Thanks you have been more than helpful...Woot! also NO MORE STYLUS yay. L8 bro.

Glad I could help! There are def some good ones out there and all at the fingertips! I agree, no lockups is huge! Anytime bro. I agree! I flashed a buddy's wm phone n had 2 use a stylus haha weak!

this may be a placebo effect but not having my weather on my home screen keeps my battery from draining as quickly as it used to...might be a mental thing but thought I'd post it

Hey Thacounty, you may want to update your thread. I was helping someone with flashing the recovery img and using the guide over at XDA. Heroc 1.5.2 has totally different menus and there is no longer an option for Part sd: fat32+ext2+swap. There was a new option that said move apps+davlic cache to sd. I did that option cause I was curious and when i rebooted, BAM! A crap ton of force closes. I reflashed Fresh and all went back to normal but it was really weird. Just curious how to make sure at this point since that option isnt there anymore, what is supposed to be used? Thanks.

that option is definitely there because I just used it like an hour ago.

And your using Heroc 1.5.2? I looked in every option. Boot into recovery and tell me what yours says.

Let me elaborate a little as I don't quite know what happened, this is only speculation.

You are trying to use A2SD2 with heroc 1.5.2. If you repartition your card it will delete everything on the card, including if you had apps2sd2 on there before.

That probably caused force closes. In heroc 1.5.2 you have to partition sd, then press home, then choose the size you want to make each.

Make swap ZERO, I can't elaborate this enough, you DO NOT want a swap file. It won't help you at all!! I use Swap Zero, Ext2 800 or so MB, and the other 15GB for FAT32.

Then you have to upgrade the Ext2 to Ext3 for Fresh 1.1.

OK. I did forget to partition ext2 to ext3. Jimmyeason tried it and still no go. Thacounty mentions apps2sd2 which is over at xda. I guess im gonna have to try that.

Ok, see if you can confirm this for me. I think things are being installed to the sd storage just fine. My question is, how come the internal storage drops slowly as i install apps? I did a test, i installed 5 apps totalling approx 20 mb, the internal storage drop 3mb. So obviously it appears the core of the app is being installed to the hidden partition but what is causing the internal to drop? My guess was settings and the icon? Thanks.

Icon could be some, usually it is caching on the internal storage. It will drop some, but not near what it would if you didn't have it.

Yea, it will now not be usable for storage other than apps.

Yep you sure can. Repartition SD to Fat32 only, then Nandroid Restore.

One last question. Since fresh rom is the only one that requires the ext2 to ext3, will apps2sd still work with other roms with this type of set up?

I think so, but don't quote me. The best thing to do is backup, try another rom, if it doesn't work you can restore.

I know, i'm using and ext2 on fresh 1.1 and haven't had any hiccups. You guys are making it sound like ext2 won't work.
