Can you open and edit Word and Excel files on the Hero?

I have been using WinMo devices since it was Windows CE and use the word and excel programs frequently. Does the Hero has soemthing that will open and edit Word and Excel files without converting them to some other format?

Re: Can you open and edit Word and Excel files on the Hero?

The Hero has an app installed called QuickOffice that will read Microsoft Office up to version 2003. To read Microsoft Office 2007 documents, you need to install from the Android Market the free app Documents To Go. Documents To Go is a real go applications. I've used it on my Palm PDAs.

According to Document To Go's website, you can view, edit and create Office docs (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) on an Android phone:

You can only edit in the full version if I am reading it correctly. (aka non free) Of course in theory you could edit via your Google Docs account. Pure speculation right now though as I have yet to hit Best Buy for my Hero.

Re: Can you open and edit Word and Excel files on the Hero?

what i read on the dataviz's website is that the software that is available as a free download will only read documents and will not create/edit and i believe this is the version that is included out of the box. Sprint's web page for the Hero only specifies viewing so theres a viewer on board and if you pay dataviz you gain create/edit capability
