What am I doing wrong with the Roms?

I feel like an idiot (maybe I am) but I can not get any Rom to flash to my Hero. I am rooted. I can see the su application in my menu and I can get to the menu on the phone that says to flash from zip. When I flash the rom I always get a message that one of the files is corrupted. It is not always the same file but the same result, the instal is aborted. I have read the guide and tried the steps outlined there with no joy. I have tried both of Fresh's latest roms with no joy. I have tried with the files from rooting on my SD card and with them removed. I have tried with only one rom on the SD or multiple Roms on the SD card at a time, with no joy. I appologize if this is a stupid question, but what am I doing wrong? Is there a step I am missing? I just download the zip, move it to my SD card, boot into recovery, and then select flash from Rom...

Do I need to install A2SD before I can install the Roms? Thanks in advance for any advice.

No, A2SD should be included in the ROMs you are trying. Are you sure you are doing ALL of the steps correctly? Link to what guide you are using.

Re: What am I doing wrong with the Roms?

sounds like you are doing everything correctly. if you get a corrupt file i would suggest redownloading it. you have probably already done that but i had to mention it just in case.

Re: What am I doing wrong with the Roms?

other than making sure you run a wipe from recovery first for some of the newer roms, everything sounds good!

Re: What am I doing wrong with the Roms?

I was using this http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...3&postcount=51

I did a wipe before I tried any of them and that didn't solve the problem. I then did a reformat back to the stock RUU and rerooted and another failed attempt. I have downloaded the two fresh roms twice but no love. Maybe it is because I didn't donate yet.... j/k.

Thanks for the suggestions. I am going to keep trying this until it works. I waited too long for 2.1 only to find out that my phone still has major problems...

Re: What am I doing wrong with the Roms?

I had this problem, I ran the stock 1.5 ruu and then rooted again and everything was fixed. Sometimes stuff just gets jumbled up I guess.

Re: What am I doing wrong with the Roms?

So it turns out that it was a downloading problem. I tried to download it twice from XP machines and got the same error. I then downloaded the files on a Win7 machine and it worked fine. Dont understand, but dont really care any more. Now my Hero is Fresh! Thanks for all of the advice. Now time to learn about A2SD....

Its simple. A2SD is built into Fresh rom. All you have to do is format your card. Make sure you move everything off of your sd card and save to your computer so you can put it all back when done. Format SD with 32 swap, Your choice on the EXT, I chose 796 because well, thats all I wanted and it will automatically format the remaining memory. Once it finishes formatting, select format EXT 2 to EXT 3. Once that is finished, select USB to MS and drag all of the files you moved to your computer back onto the SD card. Reboot.
