Faldiin

Just spoke with my local sprint rep and was told this bombshell....

In addition to the extra charges if you buy an EVO in an area with 3G only your data plan will be limited to 5 gb's on your hotspot. If you buy it in a 4G area you will have unlimited data on your hotspot.

I don't understand this one but I think that is rediculous!

$30/mo is rediculous for 5GB, but this is something I would confirm with dan@sprint.com, or get a few opinions from multiple sprint CS reps, via phone, chat, email, etc. Not saying your local sprint rep is wrong....but I'd get more than one opinion on that.

Re: Hero to Evo?

sounds right.. cause 3g ( evdo ) data card are capped at 5gigs.. so why would the 3g mobile hotspot plan be any diff? 4g is unlimited..3g ( evdo ) still runs on the cdma network..

Re: Hero to Evo?

I E-Mailed dan@sprint.com last night about the Evo, and got the following relating to the data/WiFi hot spot:
Quote:
In discussing the $30.00 charge for the mobile hotspot I explained that it covers unlimited data and you can connect up to 8 devices. This is the still half the cost of a data broadband card.

Re: Hero to Evo?

My Best Buy had the nonworking EVO out on display this week with the rest of the phones for sale, and I'll be honest, that's one wide phone. Thin as hell and the wife will love it because she carries a purse, but I'm not sure I'd be able to put it in my jeans pocket for a Friday night.

I'm starting to lean more towards an Incredible type form factor with the snapdragon processor.

Re: Hero to Evo?

Ok here's my ten cents. There has always been a $30 charge for phone as modem nothing new. But u all know u will b rooting ur phone and hacking the wireless tether like u have done with all other devices. The ten more dollars a Mon is justifiable as ppl with the evo will b using more data and its unlimited. Its fast its 4g.

I have an evo and I love it. It actually makes me love the landscape keyboard. Fast smooth slim and I already have a seidio innocase with clip on order. I said I wasn't going to switch as I have a new born and my hero does everything I NEED it to do. But once that evo was put in my hands and used it. It sold itself. But I didn't have to pay for it so ya lol... anyways switching to the evo is only good for some as it is HUGE. the hero may better suited for some with the smaller form factor.

Wait wait wait wait...

He hooked u up with the EVO?! Jealousy ensues...

Haha. Congrats. You hear of anyone else trying to dump their EVO hit me up. I will pay the $10 extra, though I don't want to. But I don't want to pay $200 and upgrade for another phone that will be $29 at Best Buy in 3 months (Exactly what happened with my Hero).

Does FM radio pick up well? Is it HD?

We should get the demo tomorrow at Best Buy. I will need your fring name so we can vid chat when I get it.

Re: Hero to Evo?

I can't activate it.... what crap.... its at work in the safe. And Idk yet if I can keep it. If they ask him for it back then ill give it back so I just have it to show off in the store. And no its not HD.

That sucks bro! Tell your rep you're gonna keep it. Crap, how can all this talk be about how awesome HD radio is then everyone seems to leave it out? I didn't think the hardware was that much higher.
