add ringtones

newb here - sorry but I have searched and cannot find this fundamental answer - how do I add then select additional ringtones?

The manual is not helpful and my forum searches have failed.

I was literally about to ask this!

I've been searching as well and can't figure it out. Do the mp3s have to be in a specific folder? I have them in "media" and they don't populate in the ringtone settings...

I am rooted and am running Fresh ROM.

I ended up downloading a ringtone applying app...i did get notifications and alarms to work by making folders: SD/media/audio/notifications and SD/media/audio/alarms and putting what I wanted in there. However, I still don't get ringtones to populate the list when I put them in SD/media/audio/ringtones....

All I'm looking for is a way or an app to simply change my telephone ringtone to something other than the stock ones. Hard to beleive there isn't an easy answer to this as all other cells phones have that capability?!

But perhaps someone will help?
