Exchange and Android 2.1

Ive tried Fresh2.0d, Aloysious 2.05b, DamageControl2.07.2 and FreshDamagedCake1.7... all have the same exchange problem.

With stock 1.5 when I setup my exchage account it would prompt me with this message, "Your exchange server requires that you enable security to continue synchronizing", I would hit OK and the message would never appear again.

With all of the 2.1 ROMs this message appears every 30 minutes. It works, my exchange will sync, but every 30 minutes I need to accept the security settings and it is quite annoying.

Does anyone have this problem? Or have any suggestions on how to fix it?

Re: Exchange and Android 2.1

I only got the prompt one time. I'm on DamageControl 2.07.2. using Exchange 2007. Seems to work just fine for me.

Re: Exchange and Android 2.1

I had troubles with out exchange server at work. I ended up paying for TouchDown for Exchange. I ended up liking it better in the long run

Re: Exchange and Android 2.1

+1 for Touchdown. It's not free, or even cheap for an Android app, but it is full of options and has some very cool widgets. Well worth it to me because I must rely on Exchange for work.

Re: Exchange and Android 2.1

Well, since this morning I've tried several other ROMs... I stumbled onto one called IC3, and when setting up Exchange on this ROM, there is an extra checkbox below "This server requires SSL..." that says something like "Accept certificates from this server". When I check that box, I don't even get prompted for the security settings once.

I since have tried loading Fresh again, but anyway I try to configure the Exchange setup, I cannot find that checkbox.

Re: Exchange and Android 2.1

I have no problems on exchange or Fresh. I just don't like that I MUST entre my security password EVERY SINGLE time I turn on the screen. If someone knows how to get rid of that i'll dance horribly at their wedding...LOL

That is the way your company's Exchange administrator has activesync connections to the Exchange server setup, so short of begging your administrator for special treatment, I am afraid that there is nothing that you an do about it.

Re: Exchange and Android 2.1

I can only gather the default email client used in these ROMs doesn't permanently accept the certificate. The mail client in IC3 gives me an option to accept the certificates and I'm never asked to accept the security settings. I guess I need to figure out what client IC3 uses or maybe look into a different email client... any suggestions aside from Exchange by Touchdown which is 19.99?
