Flashed 2.1 RUU and can't root to get off..HELP!!

I flashed the stock 2.1 RUU that was floating around a couple weeks ago, and havent been able to get off of it since. ADB just doesn't recognize anything I type to try and mount my hero, the PC doesnt see it either. Im at a loss as to what steps and where to look in order to somehow get my phone back to 1.5 or rooted to flash another 2.1 ROM. Ive tried to just run another RUU, no luck. Supposedly this RUU was pre-rooted but quickboot doesn't work and I can;t get into recovery no matter what!!

What do you get when you type ADB DEVICES?

wow man that's screwed, take your chances and get a replacement. DO NOT flash any RUU in the future.

I flashed the RUU and then rooted, flashed recovery image and went back to damageless 2.07 rom. If windows will not recognize his hero, this sounds like a driver issue. Uninstall HTC Sync completely, then reinstall HTC Sync, and try again.

thanks a lot guys..I've flashed RUU many of times, but I was misled to believe this was rooted, when it truly was not.

so..I've tried this, tried other ways and no matter what after I push the recovery to the phone then flash it, I still wind up with the triangle exclamation point and all that..

What gives! I pushed it to the data/local..no luck

the only strange thing I see, but I'm not sure if its wrong is after I flash the recovery, it very quickly gives me a line saying

put it back stock and turn the sucker in for a replacement. NEVER flash a RUU in the future.

thats the thing I know all the ends ands outs of adb but its just not flashing a single recovery..insurance claim tomorrow first thing when I get to work
