Easy Rooting Step by Step Instructions?

I'm interested in rooting my Sprint HTC Hero for tethering. Eventually maybe a custom ROM, but stock is fine for now.
I was looking at fresh kitchen's auto root, but really cant find good step by step instructions.
Can someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks

1) this area is for developers to post threads only. questions that aren't thread specific should be posted in the normal forum.

2) You're not going to find anything easier than Fresh's kitchen. just start the kitchen, plug your phone in, run the diagnostics test under the help tab (make sure debugging is on), then hit root under the rooter tab. it's really that simple.

for wireless tethering you will have to add the application but i'd just flash fresh's rom and it's built in.

Sorry for the misplacement post. Thanks for the reply though.
I'll try Fresh Rom (hopefully its easy enough to flash) as I need wireless tethering

Re: Easy Rooting Step by Step Instructions?

If your not ready to hack it, there are free tethering programs on the market Easytether lite, i have not tried it but it says you do not need root access

Re: Easy Rooting Step by Step Instructions?

not sure about wireless tethering without root. but yes, try fresh's rom, or any custom rom really. it's pretty easy (I was always scared to root and try roms on WinMo, but it's so easy on Android that I had to try)

also, you'll see a pretty noticable difference in the way the phone works. it's amazing what these guys can do with these phones. makes me wonder wtf the actual android developers are getting paid for. these guys just come in and fix everything they screwed up.
