Re: 2.1 Upgrade Question
Man, I was hoping that wasn't the case. I have never backed up anything on Android before. I have done it on my windows based phones of the past, but that was easy. Thanks for the help.

Re: 2.1 Upgrade Question
You could use Nandroid....though when you restore a nandroid backup, I don't think you can pick and choose what you import. I think it's all or nothing

Re: 2.1 Upgrade Question
When root was first available for the Sprint Hero, I rooted. When the 1.56 update came out, I loaded the stock Sprint 1.29 rom, and applied the 1.56 update (essentially un-rooting). Once I signed in with my google account, I went to the market and under "My Downloads", I could install all the apps I had installed prior to wiping my phone. You would need to save any data you entered into those apps. But at least your phone will know what apps were installed previously.

Re: 2.1 Upgrade Question
Put your contacts in your gmail account, and you are fine. Trust in Google....

But there's a downside to the gmail contacts....every person you have ever emailed is considered a contact in google. So, I setup a separate gmail account, which will mainly be used for my contacts (2.1 will allow for checking multiple email accounts, anyway), just to keep email addresses out of my contacts list. |
