Re: Lil help plz. Wanting to flash Hero.
What Fresh ROM are you trying to flash? Be specific with what you are trying to flash, and the steps you have taken to get to where you are so one of us can help you out No need to apologize for not knowing, but you need to be specific. I know the screens you are talking about, but I am not sure what the problem you are having is. Is the phone not completely booting up?

Re: Lil help plz. Wanting to flash Hero.
no prob. Trying to flash Fresh 2.0. Here is what I did. Followed steps to root located here http://theunlockr.com/2009/11/18/how...-in-one-click/ Downloaded ROM and renamed zip file as update. Moved zip file onto SDCard. Powered device off and then tried powering on holding home and power. This is where I end up in the skateboard screen.
After messing with it a lil more, I formatted my sdcard and started from scratch. Everything worked fine again until I copied the zip of the ROM and tried to boot using home and power. Let me know if you need any more info and I'll hook it right up. BTW, thanks for responding so quickly. I have been very nervous about flashing my HERO as android is very new to me as I am sure it is most here but I was ready to go after reading "virtually unbrickable" Leave it to me |

Re: Lil help plz. Wanting to flash Hero.
I find these directions to be a bit easier for the method you are trying to use.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=584029 Once you hold down Volume down/Power...Are you pushing the Home button to get into the Recovery screen? Are you flashing 2.0C? Are you making sure to wipe before you attempt to flash the ROM? You have to Wipe before you flash the ROM. Quite frankly I don't rename my ROM zips, I leave them named whatever they are named when I DL them. Go over the directions I gave you and see if that is a bit easier. It sounds like you have gained root if you followed your original directions. Make sure you back things up as well, I would make a Nandroid backup before attempting to flash. |

Re: Lil help plz. Wanting to flash Hero.
CarlaDarla. I am trying again now using the instructions you provided. Looks like I was at the correct screen the hole time (hboot screen). However, the only thing it would let me do last night is select the "clear" option which would erase everything and restart the phone. Then again, I was up pretty late trying to get my flash fix. Right now the ROM is flashing from the zip file on the sd card. Will report back as to if it works or not shortly.

Re: Lil help plz. Wanting to flash Hero.
Well...the phone flashed and took me back to the screen that let me reboot and now my phone has been on the HTC bootscreen ever since. I know its supposed to take a few minutes but this is ridiculous. It's just staying on the screen and the screen isn't dimming or anything. Anyone have any thoughts on this???

Re: Lil help plz. Wanting to flash Hero.
uh oh. Looks like we have progress. Here's what I've did. First I tried pulling the battery about five different times. Reminds me of the old mogul days. Then I remembered seeing a step on one of the other tutorials to do a wipe before flashing. Did the wipe. Still didn't work. Tried pulling the battery again and got the ffffrrrreesshhhh sound when starting up. I knew I was getting somewhere then. Unfortunately, it still got stuck. After one more battery pull the phone has booted completely SSSwwweeeettttt.
Now on to set up the phone and see whats up with this rom. |
