Any WM vets out there know??

I'm sure a lot of you were children of the WM crowd before (and more importantly TP users)

I'm wondering if there's an app/tweak for getting the Hero to fast charge (IE. Charge @ 1A instead of 500mA)
My Touch Pro has the nuetweak to do it, and it has the same hardware set (except the battery) so I have hope that somewhere there might be one for the Hero.

Thanks guys (and yes I tried searching for it!)
This things battery life is quite good but as slow as it drains....it charges FOREVER

..found that with a quick search on google, posts 90 - 100 (I think), talk about a "power only" cable? As far as I know, there isn't a software tweak for that workaround yet. Hope this helps you!

Hmm thanks, I mean it's got to be possible. I guess I gotta be patient (I would honestly make it myself if I could code )

I'd think it'd be something as simple as telling the phone to draw as much current as it gets from the AC, from the USB port (making both 1A)

Re: Any WM vets out there know??

"The AC charger is delivering 5V at 1A max.
USB ports are also 5V, but typically deliver less amps (as far as I know it is supposed to be below 500mA per port). I think the hero negotiates for a lower current than 500mA, but plugging in a power only cable will basically max out the port."

"So I tried one of those split usb cables you get with portable 2.5" hard drives. I plugged it into my phone, and then connected the power usb point and not the data point to my laptop. Now my Hero said it's charging from AC, and charging speed was a lot better (I use vizBattery to see stats)."

again, hope this helps!

I know I read that, but I meant there to be a way not to be ghetto (for it'd be nice to do this with tethering in the future)

Re: Any WM vets out there know??

and I absolutely agree, but I guess you have to start somewhere. And unless you can learn how to code, and manipulate the current that ouur phones draw from the usb ports, then thats the next best thing.

Re: Any WM vets out there know??

USB ports are only rated at 500mA. The optimized charger that come in the box with a wall adapter chargers at 1A. A lithium battery can charge at a rate equal to that of its mAh rating (a 1600 mAh battery can charge at a current of 100mA) but anything higher than that can damage the battery. The dual plug usb cords for external dvd drives and hard drives plug into two ports in series to double the power rating of 500mA and make it 1000mA (1A). So, if you really want to charge as quickly as possible from usb, thats the way to do it.
