Contacts gone C-C-C-CRAZY

Normally, when i want to dial a contact, i just hit my call button and use the smart dial to pull up a contact.

So, the other day, i went into my people app and noticed that numbers that i call frequently were duplicated at least a bazillion times. I'm talking well over 20 duplicates of a single contant, and only the original has any information in it, so i had to open damn near every single one of them to figure out which one to not delete? My question is this: WTF?

Are they duplicated on google.com also?

Yeah! The only semi-efficient way of removing them is the checkboxes in google voice. Maybe google voice is the issue here..........................hmmm........ponderlu st...

Or you can check mark all the same contacts and then there is a link that says "merge contacts" and it will merge all the duplicates together. This is from gmail of course.

Yeah, but that is treating the symptoms and not the disease. And by disease, i mean that if this is the only problem i have with the phone, then what gives me the right to bitch about it?

I appreciate it. It just confuses me because Google, as a company, has made an name for themselves and continues to be friggin awesome solely because of the efficient and well thought out way that they handle information. This seems more prevelantly like an issue with their servers. I'll probably end up doing precisely what you suggested. Its just strange that it needs to be done in the first place.

That's strange, I've had a few people come into my job with contacts duplicated but strangely they weren't duplicated on google.com.. completely different from the few instances i saw.. Sorry I couldn't help, good luck on finding a cure for your disease!
