Help! Have a CS Hero which has been losing internal storage all by itself...

I have had it since November with all the usual apps (52 including all the stock ones).

Starting a month ago, low storage alert kept showing up with any app download. So, I remove apps I don't use and oh well.

Two weeks ago I figure out that when low storage alert is on I can't receive texts! Sends fine...

Oh, alert seems to come on at 15Mb left...

Today, having downloaded NADA, low memory alert comes on, eventually working its way down to 0. Yup. Zero.

Phone force closes every app, continuously reboots and just goes crazy.

Hang with me here, best yet to come! So, I hard reset somehow after hours of trying to remember how then Voila! Phone works great. Reload all my former apps and...drumroll please...130Mb of storage left!!!!

What the heck is going on? Are we supposed to clean up temp files or something? Virus?

Ideas gratefully accepted!

Rick

Re: storage gone mad!

Once a week, I go into manage apps & clear out all the cache in my apps. That may have been your problem.

I tried that with a healthy dose of installing but still full...I am clueless. Been downloading more and still at 126Mb.

Re: storage gone mad!

If you are rooted I would recommend CacheMate. The app cleans out cache memory and only costs $2. The first time I used it I gained 70 MB of space back. If you want to check it out, there is a demo version that you can download.

Not rooted. Was hoping to get 2.1 update before fighting through the rooting process.

Down to 114Mb this morning having done nothing to phone but a little internet.

109...clearing caches like mad but no improvement. Conference call with my carrier and HTC today yielded "maybe bad hardware."
