youtube suddenly not playing videos

I'm on Fresh 1.0. suddenly i've noticed that youtube and other "choice" sites.. lol aren't playing videos through the video player. Sometimes they will play other times they won't. Trying to watch them in high quality doesn't work at all. Only real thing i've done is flash the android 2.1 rom from xda and then wiped and did a restore to fresh rom. Anyone have an idea whats going on? it gives me an error saying cannot play video and also video doesn't support file type.

Did you do a nandroid back up first ? before any of this Not sure how that would work. I do know electronics sometimes like to cling onto things. and that Android 2.1 is a diff entity .I normally re-install the stock and start fresh with fresh. . its just my preference that the unit seems to run smoother

ok... well i have a nandroid backup of my rom after it was rooted.. are you saying restore that one and then just upgrade to fresh again?

Pasting this answer in a few places:

I just tested on wifi and evdo on fresh 1.0 with a "popular" video in the youtube app and it worked just fine in regular and high quality modes.

This has nothing to do with your rom. This is happening on my hero and I am not rooted. I have been getting errors all day. I even went and looked at a droid to compare and just to play with one and that seemed to work.

Yep. I have the same issue. Sometimes doesn't work in regular quality, and rarely works in high quality. If I click on something several times, it will play (doesn't always work, however). This is using the YouTube app.

Same Here, it randomly selects to fail some videos indiscriminately. :/

Same here...I'm also on the Fresh 1.0 Rom. sometimes it works...sometimes not. HD vids haven't worked yet at all.

I don't think it has anything to do with the fresh rom, as I'm stock, and I have the issue. The content coming through to the player is not compatible with the mobile player. Looks like the website probably had an update, but the android widget has not had an update yet.

Um me too! lol can't watch Any HQ on YouTube and the regular stream is horrible at best...
