Old PPCGeek back with Hero

Had a Touch Pro for about a year and lived on PPCG...A semi-lurker. I "upgraded" to the Moment in Dec after a month of debating back and forth between that and the Hero. I obviously made the wrong decision. I liked the Moment, but I was not wow'ed by it... heck there were days I wanted my TP back!

I thought the faster processor would be a benefit, and the hardware keyboard sealed it. Now I will admit side-by-side, the AMOLED screen on the Moment is no competition, ridiculously bright and crisp. But no one can convince me that the Moment is faster... I would actually say it is slower, much slower.

Now to the Hero. Bottom line, I will never buy a phone not made by HTC again. The Hero is butter smooth, tight build quality, and just better than the Moment, period. I do already miss the touch keys, and the Hero trackball is worthless to me. But every other aspect of the Hero is head and shoulders above the Moment.

Played with it all day Friday, rooted Saturday, and flashed Fresh 1.1 Sat night. With the Moment I couldn't wait for 2.1 hoping it would make the phone everything I expected. With my Hero, I really an not worried about it... not that I wont get it when it comes out!

And finally, the coup de gras, is the online community. There are some good folks out there working hard to make the best out of the Moment, but nothing the HTC community. Sites like PPCG and XDA, rival the Apple community, without the psychosis.

I've done the come and go dance myself, its always good to come back.

I remember when this board was just wideawake and a few people, and after a while I had sold my smartphone and moved on, when I came back it was this brilliant monstrosity that it is today!

Same here. I thought I wouldn't buy an HTC phone after having a TP2. But, I'm very satisfied with my Hero. I can't wait to get an official 2.1 update.

heh I was in the whole "hmmmm do i get the moment or the hero?" phase...after coming from the mogul to the touch pro, I felt I couldn't live without the hardware keyboard....so I made myself get used to using onscreen keyboard just prior to pulling the trigger on the hero.....best choice I made.

Really now, I can understand people NEEDING the keyboard but the onscreen one works...simply put. plus the added benefit of a slim phone doesnt hurt either.

Sure sometimes I felt I wanted to slam the phone down after making the same consecutive goofs I got used to it. Now after having the phone for going on 3 months now, I am just dandy with it :P

Plus, this community.....bar none. There are some great strides being made in the ROM field, specially with the likes of the gumbo rom/kernal, and when the 2.1 update pokes it ugly head up in the future, it can only get better.

Anyways, I am being long winded. Welcome back and make sure to try the Keish.

I have a hero and a moment and like the Hero better too! I like the SenseUI, really only for the social network integration. If the moment had that I would have used it for more than a few hours.

There is some good stuff for Android on this site, but be sure to checkout the other major android sites... alot more on them!

PPCGeeks is still my fav though
