Need help with Custom Taskbar Icons

I have the darkstar taskbar with some custom icons on it already, but there are a few icons, such as HTC Sync, Mail, and eBuddy that still have the default HTC background where my current taskbar background is pure black. I tried pulling the Mail apk, editing the icons, and pushing it back (just as a test) but that just resulted in no icons showing up at all. Anyone know how to edit application taskbar icons or make them transparent? Thanks for the help.

Did you edit the image without changing the name, size, or color depth of it?

Re: Need help with Custom Taskbar Icons

Yeah, same name, same dimensions, just changed the fade to grey to all black. Some I have now gotten to work, except eBuddy. Maybe I am missing something with this one because it is on the SD card from apps2sd. I tried pushing it to /system/sd/app/ but that didnt work. Also I tried just copying the file over and installing it but that didnt work either. This is the only one I still can't get and the only one that is a downloaded app and on the SD card. Can I just not edit apps like that?
