Re: is it just me, or...
From what I've seen, a good many problems have resulted from user error or multiple combinations of differnent ROMs, themes, or patches. Not to mention the order of installation which can affect the outcome sometimes. However I have read a few post where people were simply trying to root their phone and ran into trouble. Assuming they were following directions it could be a hardware issue. If an HTC supplier ran short on some component they manufactured I'm sure HTC would find a equivilent substitute to keep the assembly lines rolling. Probably not items like the processor, but other chips, RAM, etc. I also feel that we may run into some problems when things are ported from other Android devices. I've also read that the Hero port to CDMA was something of a patch job. But yes it does seem that these phones have a mind of their own sometimes.
So far I've only had a few issues with mine most of which were documented in the release notes for what I was installing.

It's just you....
Sorry I had to say it lol....My phone isn't temperamental at all, I haven't had any issues, and I try pretty much everything. I also run a pretty clean phone, not a lot of apps and stuff like that so I don't know if that effects it at all.

Re: is it just me, or...
That was very funny..lol
But on a serious note, I haven't had any problems with my Hero that I didnt create myself. I usually run around 40-50 apps with no issues.. sometimes I wonder why I have that many because I barely use most of them but I guess I try to leave them on since I have to demo it at work. For me the Hero keeps getting better and better with every rom flash and especially the Gumbo kernal.
