Wireless Tether Question

anyone know how to make it so that the SSID does not broadcast? i got some guys at my work tryna jump on my shit, but i know they cant cause i used the access control, but i dont even want them to see it cause then theyll know im on another network and rat me out.

It's not possible. If you don't broadcast the SSID, then you won't be able to connect. Just change the name of the ad-hoc to something like WRTG-54 or Linksys. Besides, if you are on another network, how would they know unless they have access to your station.

what do you mean, they see my phone ssid broadcast because they are in the room next to me, and there like wtf is that. but your right, so even if i changed it to anything else theyd know it was me, i work in the IT dept here. but our admins are anal as **** and they lock down some websites. and i dont use my desktop work pc to connect to it, i use a laptop that is beside me to connect to it.

I still don't know how they can pinpoint it to your phone unless they went around with detectors or they come and demand to see if you are tethering by looking at your phone.

They only other way is the tether it with the USB cable via PDAnet I believe.

does pdanet work?? is sprint able to monitor it with pdanet? i thought the reason everyone uses the wireless is cause its the only free secure way?

PdaNet works. They can't monitor it anymore than they can monitor wifi tether.
