Re: Hero progressively slower and eating more battery

Have you done a lot of flashing without wiping the data. I had a similar issue and I had done a lot of flashing. I flashed the stock 1.56 rom and wiped the memory. I then rooted again and flashed to fresh 1.1 and my troubles were gone.

Do you use bluetooth all the time? I know at one point there was an issue with using a bluetooth headset all the time.

Make sure you get Gumbo .31, or whatever his latest is. It isn't in the upgrades. It is on Androidcentral.com forums. Prob easiest to search androidcentral sprint hero roms and it will come up. He also is @gbhil on Twitter and when he releases he posts.

As always Nandroid Backup and flash.
Thanks again fam, loaded the Gumbo and it seemed to fix both problems (speed and battery). I'm gonna have to monitor it over the next few days but for now its revitalized my Hero!

That was just the assistance I was looking for.

Re: Hero progressively slower and eating more battery

my hero running fresh rom runs very fast, no lag or crashes and the battery life is pretty good too. i read up on that gbhill kernel and ill pass for now, seems alot of people are having issues with it. ill wait for a custom 2.1 final rom to come with a non beta kernel.

hmmm, i would be willing to bet that 32098472398732987 files in a system would make an impact, but ok. even *nix systems suffer, simple example, a web server... the more crap on it the more performance suffers. have you tried running it a few days without installing anything?
