no calendar notifications? screen timeout puts apps to sleep?

First off, im diggin it. cool phone, i love the google integration. but I have a few issues:

1. when the screen goes to sleep, so do the apps, therefore the google voice app stops working. sure enough the moment i turn the screen back on, i get all sorts of notifications about the text messages i missed. is there a way to turn the screen off without affecting the apps?

i know i can forward sms to my phone, but then everytime i get a txt, i get one to my phone and then another one in the gvoice app. so i turned forwarding off. is there a better way to do this?

2. since switching from WM (htc diamond) i do not recieve ANY calendar notifications. none. this is a big problem.

help?

In the calendar when creating an event, press Menu and add a notification. I learned this when it failed to remind me of a dentist appointment which in turn I totally forgot to go. Haha.

I have my screen time out at 30 seconds and flash notifications set ON for everything but emails. My phone will even beep for Facebook notifications as well as texts or google voice notifications. Check ypur sisplay settings.

Re: no calendar notifications? screen timeout puts apps to sleep?

i create all of my calendar entries using the web based calendar. I want those entries to send notifications to my phone (like they used to on windows mobile). I read in some other threads that there is a known issue with calendar notifications that will be fixed with the next android update.

would it work better if i used activesync to sync my calendar instead?
