Yeah CDMA radios are not capable of simultaneous transmission and reception of EVDO and 1x. Sorry. No Sprint phone ever has, probably no Sprint phone ever will. Same with Verizon. This is a "Feature" of GSM.

Not entirely true, the only carrier that is capable of simultaneous high speed Data+Voice is AT&T that I know of at this time. T-Mobile is GSM and it is not capable of both at high speed.

Regardless, they're able of an active connection during voice calls. He was stating that its not capable for sprint at all (Ev or 1x)

and to my knowledge (could be wrong) they're not ONLY allocated to data using EV and voice using 1x because what happens when you have low coverage? it goes to 1x...and my internet still works at that point.
