Google Voice Search

Ok so my friend has a Hero (not rooted) and when on the home screen if she pressed the search button (the one that looks like a magnifying glass) the little google search bar comes up at the top of the screen. However, she doesn't get the voice search option (the little microphone pic on the google search bar). Any way I can fix this for her? She is current on the firmware, again not rooted, and I dont know what else to say...

Google Screwed many 1.5 users in the past month with the Google Voice Search & Maps applications dissapearing.

PM me her Hero's email if you still have the phone.

is voice search an app that can be loaded from the market? I understand it comes stock with the phone, but I can only imagine that this is er problem. She may not have this app and that could be the reason why her google voice search doesn't run...
