ok so ive been trying to root my phone today so i can load a custom firmware, but i have been unsuccesful. i just got my hero last week and im sure it has the latest firmware. does this make it so that i am unable to root it? i tried the methods on unlockr website to downgrade but said my bootloader was incorrect. does anyone have any info on this. my firmware is 1.5 build 1.56.651.2 please ask if u need more info on my phone. thanks

Re: root new firmware

That is the latest firmware, you are doing something wrong. It took me all day to finally root my hero. Talk to Athletic1 and if he has time, he may ne able to help. I suck at it, sorry

thanks a lot, i had been working with flipz all morning to get his working, but a no go. i tried to do this and it went great. super easy. thanks a lot, thanks for all ur help flipz, i guess since im rooted now i cant help you get yours working now, the only thing i did different from this way, is that i used fresh rom instead of the modaco one the OP used. now i guess i gotta see what the fuss of being rooted is all about and how great this rom is.
