I don't believe it's going to be out by 2009 and not by April 2010. THe truth is, I am pretty sure sprint will try to put it out as soon as they can, or else they will be losing customers to verizon.
The hype for the android phones, especially the droid is so big, that iphone is not even mentioned anymore... plus all the verizon marketing on their 3g and the droid is really working. Sprint's CEO will either have to come with a very good new Android phone with 2.1 soon, or upgrade the Hero ASAP. HTC just can't realease an upgrade without testing it very well first. There will always be bugs, but they have to minimize the chasnces as much as they can... plus don't forget that it's HTC building it, and they have been pretty busy with their growth in sales and new phones and keeping up with the market (that's why they are growing so fast) by creating interfaces that can actually ake the phones more usabel for the general public, or do you think HTC phones with windows mobile OS would just sell with the miserable inerface tht comes straight from Microsoft? Microsoft is losing the game by being too slow... HTC is actually doing what had to be done at first with these OSs. Remember, the general public are not geeks, so they need an easy to use interface such as iphones and such. Anyway, My bet is hafl of January to half of february for the release... with sprint hoping to put it out earlier than that! |

Re: talked with best buy mobile manager
Before Sprint can sprinkle their Pixie dust on the 2.1, HTC has to finish updating the Sense UI to work with it.
HTC has had 2.1 for awhile now, so I am hoping that it will be soon (as in the next few weeks). |

Re: talked with best buy mobile manager
No wonder I have not met any - sounds to me as though Best Buy has *all* their knowledgeable employees in Pittsburgh.
In any event, I should not poke fun. It was that manager in my local BB that was nice enough to allow me to purchase 2 Heros for my existing plan with the "new customer" pricing of $99 per phone - out the door. Pete |
