Re: Why is my Hero so slow?

No sorry, I am not being very clear. It was on my first left screen. Podcasts on pause a lot too, that could be why.

Yea if I have it running it slows the phone, but if I go to it and stop the music it speeds back up.

I could be on crack too. Who knows honestly, I normally don't have speed issues with the phone it was an oddity.

If you are having slowing problems, make sure you don't have all your widgets downloading every minute as this will slow the phone.

ATK is known to be the hero's nemesis, get an app like Task Panel or Task Manager 1.10.1 (or whatever the latest build is)

All autokilling makes the phone run slower as it has to run that app all the time.
Yeah, I'm using the bluetooth, I have too as I almost work from my car. How do I adjust the frequency of the widget downloads, those seem to be the things that are always running in the task manager. I used Task Panel, but it wouldn't kill at the threshold, only when the time limit was set (and I was setting the time limit to 5min to keep it clean!!!) I could kill everything and the available memory was still at 32mb AFTER killing processes, if I set it to kill EVERYTHING, it would almost restart the phone. I'll try Task Manager and see what that does.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 1.5; en-us; A6277 Build/CUPCAKE) AppleWebKit/528.5+ (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.2 Mobile Safari/525.20.1)

Kiling sense looks like a reset. Don't kill that. Usually u can set widget updating in its settings.

Re: Why is my Hero so slow?

hmmm....i seemed to notice my phone taking the plunge to slowness as well with all the games I have been installing and running recently....I have not been "backing out" but instead just hitting the home key. I restarted my phone, and have been backing out instead of using the home key today, and that seems to work wonders for the speed. Thanks guys!

Haha yea, leaving them running will cut the speed of the device quickly.

Yea it picked up the pace dramatically. I was getting a little saddened by the slow down. Glad I fixed it.

Now, I keep reading a little bit here and there about a memory leak issue on non-rooted phones? Do I just need to root and switch to a Fresh rom to fix this, or do you think they are going to fix this with a stock update?

It was supposedly fixed with the MR. I suggest going Fresh because it is faster and has the bloatware removed! Plus it is a stable rom that is pretty sweet overall.

EDIT: almost forgot, it has WiFi tether too!!

Tether is nice....but I prefer Blutooth PAN over Wifi. Wifi just uses too much battery...its like sucking the life force out of the phone. At least that is how it was with the Mogul. How is it with overheating while tethering through Wifi? Does it get warm/hot/scorching?
