Droid Eris getting an update w/ Nav support!

HTC tweeted about an hour ago that the Droid Eris would be getting an update that supports Google Nav, so that means 1.6 or 2.0 I'm guessing. What's that mean for us? I can't see Sprint not updating the Hero to match. Even if Sprint doesn't would a Eris 1.6 or 2.0 rom serve as a better base for our devs to chef up a custom rom for the Hero?!

I know that the European 2.0 we have now has some problems and no cdma support, would the Eris one be closer to what we run on the Hero?

HTC's tweet: "htc Droid Eris is getting an update to a newer version of Android early next year. Google Navigation support is coming your way "

I swear Sprint is a 3rd rate carrier in HTC eyes. The Eris and the GMS Hero's seem to be manufactured better, no gaps between the glass and the bottom plate. No %100 wake time out the box. Now they give a date for the 2.1 update.

I don't care as long as we get hold of verizon's cdma kernel so thatour devs can make us a 2.1 rom. I gave up on sprint devs a while back.

I agree GSM is a bigger market worldwide here in the states thanks to our great uncle sam GOOD companies like Sprint cant do much with out having to jump through mountains for the FCC and pressure groups from ATT

it was built better but was plaqued with ridiculous lag that we did not see with the sprint hero. HTC dropped the update right before the sprint version which shows that they care about issues and got them resolved timely. I also notice by swapping out my first hero for the new one with by google on the back, all the issues with my first one was completly resolved. No more gap or any issues other then yahoo problems, but I think that is on yahoo side.
