I think the first batch had red buttons and they eventually got changed. I got mine on launch day at 10am and that one was red, the replacement they sent me was yellow. But they both had IDENTICAL software/radio etc.
I use mine to soft reset all the time as well as customer's phone when they first buy them and install some goodies for them since the majority of people buying the phone have no idea what it is capable of or what all is out there for it.

Thanks for clarification guys, dunno why mine doesn't work... I guess I'll try it pushing it in harder.

Re: Red/yellow button below microSD slot?

T-Mobile has confirmed the HD2 soft reset button varies in color and it's nothing but a "cosmetic" change.

See the comment on the official T-Mobile forum by Moderator Daryl:
Quote:
Hey everyone!

Just to clarify this, early in the manufacturing process for the HTC HD2, T-Mobile made a change to the color of the phone’s reset button from red to either yellow or green. This is a cosmetic change only and does not correlate to the device’s performance or to changes in software. Device exchanges will not be processed based on the color of the reset button.
He mentioned exchanges, because if you see the bogus original post, someone tried to claim devices with a "red" button were somehow defective.

Mine is red, runs great!

Re: Red/yellow button below microSD slot?

Mine is yellow. Bought it the first day the HD2 went on sale.

It does a soft reset of my HD2.

I drilled a hole in the cover so I can use the button to reset it (that is rather than using my soft reset app wherein I put a soft reset icon as a quick link).

By the way, for those thinking that's a stupid idea (drilling the hole) replacement OEM covers are $16 shipped on eBay.

Besides, I already had another hole that I drilled to attach a strap (lanyard).

You can check my YouTube videos on both these "mods."
