Very Slow Internet, San Francisco, Energy ROM

Hi all.

I've been using T-Mobile since last Thursday, with Energy ROM. Great phone, great ROM. Except I have really slow internet. Almost always I see "E" in the taskbar. My understanding is this is the edge connection, slower than "3G" in the taskbar, slower than "H". Once or twice I saw both "3G" and "H" on the phone, for a second or two. Opening mobile versions of files takes very long time. I still have TP2 on Sprint, much faster connection.

Should I put the stock ROM and test the speed? Should I update radio? If I call T-Mobile (new customer for them), will they know that I'm running a new ROM?

I'm in San Francisco bay area, their map shows good coverage here.

Thanks in advance,
David

I have the same problem here in S.California, City of Fontana. I see E all the time, also beleive it or not there's a Tmobile 3gTower not even 2 miles from my house. I"m still in Edge! Right next to that Tower is a ATT tower and i get amazing 3g coverage!! Not use what's up with Tmobile

Re: Very Slow Internet, San Francisco, Energy ROM

I experienced the same thing on the stock T-Mobile ROM. Mobilespeedtest.com gave me roughly 50-175kbps. After unlocking and flashing to Dutty's latest (v1.6), and switching the 3G mode to 'auto' (in comm manager), i am seeing 'H' on my taskbar more frequently and can now get up to 400-500kbps. Eh, its stil crap compared to the speeds I was getting with Sprint...but, i guess those are the breaks, huh?

Re: Very Slow Internet, San Francisco, Energy ROM

Yeah, my T-Mobile reception compared to Sprints is pathetic. I'm on stock rom and I'm located near the SF City College/Cow Palace area. This phone is not worth getting if you live around SF, T-Mobile’s coverage in the city is very disappointing.. The phone is great but this is probably going to be my last WM phone... I can’t wait to switch back over to Sprint once the EVO arrives.
