Thanks.
I don't know if this qualifies as something for the "red button", but maybe a PM to one of the mods would be appropriate.

Also, use the "rating" link to rate the thread as you deem appropriate.

You should check out the postings at XDA developers. A lot of people where complaining about the voice quality on this phone and I now know why.
And it could still be an issue of network quality in YOUR AREA. In mine, things are fine with my HD2.

And I can even do conference calls now, something I never could do with any Sprint device.

You claim a lot of people are complaining, but there are also a lot of people who have clear quality on both ends of their calls. It could also be a matter of you having a bad HD2 and just needing a replacement. But you've moved on, glad you're happy.

But I don't want to switch back to Sprint. I'm so happy with my T-Mobile HD2, that I'm paying Sprint an ETF just to leave their no voice + data, no conference calls, no HD2 network!

And the FM Radio on my HD2 is working great too. Shame Sprint intentionally hobbled the FM Radio on my old Touch Pro.

From what I understand this is a limitation of CDMA hardware, NOT that the carrier purposefully hobbled the phone. Did I miss something about this?

I am in Ft. Wayne, IN and travel all over North East Indiana and North West Ohio. I have had great voice reception everywhere with the exception of a few spots where signal strength would dip low, but that was no different the Sprint and Verizon in other similar/close areas.

The only "problem" I've had with the carrier is that Edge data speeds can be horendous in certain locations. Personally, in my area, Edge data is quite a bit faster then Verizon/Sprint 1x speeds ever were, even to the point I think Edge is a little faster then Verizon/Sprint 3G here. The big difference between Verizon/Sprint and T-Mobile for me, is the fact that Verizon and Sprint have 3G EVERYWHERE in Ft. Wayne and outside city limits quite a bit, where T-Mobile is mostly 3G with Edge filling in.

I've heard that T-Mobile can't pick up AT&T 3G? Is it a hardware limitation or a service contract dispute?

So far I am really happy with T-Mobile. They obviously are still catching up to other carriers in terms of overall coverage, but so far so good.

Not sure where you might have heard that. Plenty of knowledgable people looked into the matter and none came to that conclusion from what I've read.

You can see things like this in particular:
http://www.nuerom.com/BlogEngine/pos...-FM-Radio.aspx

and

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...8&postcount=44

Sprint has their own radio service built into the SprintTV app and they don't like competition on devices that have their brand on them.

Interesting. Thanks for the links. My understanding was that the CDMA radios could not do FM. Didn't know the Diamond side of the story.

Sigh...ah well...guess we all get screwed one way or another. LOL

Thanks again!

Although I knew the HD2 had FM radio, I was "sure" it would be "crap" in regards to reception. But the reception is GOOD and works with any of my headphones, not just the stock headphones.

Re: Don't buy the HD2 or you will be sorry!

I love the phone, although the capacative screen will take some getting used to. The coverage however sucks a$$. I'm in Louisiana and i get 35kbps average with my Verizon i average 1500+ kbps 24/7. Only way to open streams or large web pages is to you my vzw mifi. does anyone know if Centennial 3G will work with the radio or is Centennial the same as AT&T? hate to have to have to send it back

Re: Don't buy the HD2 or you will be sorry!

i got my hd2 and have been running for about a day now and im loving the huge screen which makes typing simple and easy to do. on top of that the clarity on transformers and any other screen is just pure amazing! the crispness and the speed of the device is unbeaten by any other ppc hacked or not. the sound quality has been fine on my side thus far through t-mobile and couldnt ask for anything more. the device is great and a must get, i left verizon for this and cant be happier with the great performance!
