Question about unlocking

I am currently on Sprint and I have my HD2 preordered and will be picking it up tomorrow! I played with the phone and I am beyond impressed. I also am purchasing one of the capacitive styli to use with it since I have some specific apps at work that have rather small print that will require some finess. =)

That being said, I have one other issues that may come my way. According to the Tmobile guys, after 60 days I can call Tmobile and request an unlock code to permanently unlock the phone to use other sims. This is particular intersesting to me because work uses all AT&T and I get a pretty big discount through them. It may be worth my while to unlock the phone and switch to AT&T.

Questions are:
1) Can anyone else confirm the "after 60 day" unlock?
2) If I do unlock the phone and goto AT&T, do I still get updates/ROM info from Tmobile? I'm assuming yes?
3) I have never been on a GSM carrier. I have been on Verizon/Sprint over the last 10+ years. Is there anything good to know beyond the obvious differences at incompatibilities between CDMA and GSM carriers?
4) Would you stick with Tmobile or go AT&T later?
5) Does the TMobile HD2 have the FM radio? Is the app built in, or do I need to find an application for it?

Thanks!!!!

Re: Question about unlocking

NOt sure about the unlock question but...

I too am new to GSM and have not had a single problem with my HD2 yet, all the places i usually go have as good as or better service than with CDMA...

Once we get HSPL it doesn't matter what carrier releases a ROM (GSM of course) you can flash any ROM (again, GSM) to it...

Yes the T-Mobile HD2 has the FM Radio app on it, it also has the Slacker Radio app as well...

Re: Question about unlocking

yes you can unlock after 60 days

HOWEVER

you'd be in the same boat as iphone users have been the past 3 years, iirc the HD2 lacks the comm chip with the 3G bands AT&T uses so you'd be on their EDGE network only if you decide to leave t-mobile
