Im New To [No contracts]

I want to leave Verizon for Tmobile. Yes I know coverage is everything but I really need to get my hands on the HD 2. (Coming from Tp1)

How does no contract work exactly. What do I pay after I buy the phone? Do I still pay for data...and other expenses?

[Note] The only thing I understand about not having a contract is being able to switch whenever...correct right?

Thanks guys!!

Re: Im New To [No contracts]

you pay full price for the phone, or in installments with good credit. go to tmobile.com, they have plans without a contract and plans with a contract. you'll pay less for the phone and per month with a contract.

Re: Im New To [No contracts]

If you do no contract the phone is $450 and the monthly rate is cheaper. If you are on a contract the phone is $200 and the monthly rate it higher. Over the term of 2 years no contract is cheaper but more cost upfront. You still pay for all the same services but you are able to cancel your acct at anytime.

You pay less for the phone ($250 less for HD2) but more per month (around $20 more per month) with a contract. I was at t-mobile today, signed up to get HD2 on 23rd or 24th, while keeping Sprint for the family plan. This is first "no contract" phone for me too.

I have t-mobile prices with me now: 500 minutes, unlimited text and data, $60 no contract, $80 with contract, the same with 1000 min is $70 and $90. Unlimited everything is $80 and $100.

Exactly how everyone else above has described it

-Higher price for the phone up front.
-Lower monthly price per month.
-You still pay for data just like you normally would. It's about $20/month on T-mobile.
-No contract ie you can switch to another carrier any time without any penalties like ETF.

I'm doing the same thing as you - getting a no-contract plan after paying full price for the HD2. Only difference is I'm coming from Sprint. The plan i'm getting is 69.99/month and includes 1000 anytime minutes, unlimited everything else - data, text, MMS etc.

PS - I see you're a Halo 3 fan, hit me up if you want to play: "Sev3nthSon"

Data is either $25 or $30 on T-Mobile. Shows as $30 when I go to T-mobile.com and pretend to buy a phone, but my wife just got a TP2 and data is $25, not sure why it was cheaper. My BB Curve that I will be upgrading from is $20, but that is grandfathered price.

Re: Im New To [No contracts]

The price for data on a no contract plan is only $20/month. On Contract it is $30. The TP2 data being only $25 is due to the current plan you have just like the BB only being $20. If you change your plan the rates for the TP2 and BB will change.

Nope, $20 on no-contract. All the plan prices are listed on T-mobile.com you can find them pretty easily.
