thousands of roms...

well, there are thousands of roms... not only here but also xda and pdaphonehome

some mirror each other

some are awesome but haven't been updated in months.

some are faulty but are updated all the time.

I know not to ask whats the best cuz its a personal preference deal...

but I'd like to know, for my evo4g, whats the most stable.

I've tried a couple now. express being the latest. but for some reason i wasn't getting all my texts and mms. so now i have reflashed to synergy bc its stable (or so ive heard but last update was 3/11 ... basically a year ago.

will someone please suggest a rom for me...

I am looking for...

most stable.
all phone hardware/ intended software working.
4g hotspot *cough*hack*cough*
sms/mms working order...
front facing camera in working order.
bloatware out/ downloadable through market.

and a cool looking theme.

synergy had this god mode thing. but I think it had to be activated somehow. it increased processing potential w/o over clocking. that was cool.

I'd really appreciate the help and this is just to get an idea which roms are dead/alive... and well since most of you have probably flashed to your favorite, statistically, someone out there is looking for the same things i am and has found it.

so please help! thanks in advance.

Re: thousands of roms...

Honestly it's hard to find an updated ROM for our Evo's these days, I roam around and try to find threads to ROMs that are updated but always find something I don't like about it / something that's not working that I just don't want to do without or want to fix, so the ROM I use has not been updated in a while and won't be, but it works for me and has everything I need / want, unfortunately it's not on this site, it's from XDA but I love this site and learned what I know from here so I hang out here daily to see if anything new pops up or if I can help someone out.

If I was you I would roam the active threads and see what appeals to you and try it out on this site and XDA.

Yeah like Karl said just about all the devs have moved on to different phones since ours is outdated. I don't know if I'm allowed to post the link or not, but here it is, if it's not allowed I apologize and will remove it or a Mod can remove it.

Re: thousands of roms...

theres still alot of users and development on xda for the evo4g. i still say it's one of the best phones sprint carried and it's still a good entry level device IMO. yes most devs have moved on but that doesn't mean it's still not a good device. hard to believe in june it will be 2 years old.

Re: thousands of roms...

I don't know if I would say a lot, but there is still some development going on over their, I agree that the Evo is a great phone that's why I haven't upgraded, all the HTC phones I have bought have been good phones so that's why I will try to stick with them, plus nothings really been worth the upgrade to me so I'll just wait it out as I'm not in a hurry.

Re: thousands of roms...

i know what u mean kiowa, the only good phone waiting for is the htc one x.
sooo drooling over that phone.

quad core
everything actually equal or better than the evo
32 gig internal memory
with its own cloud.

only bad things are:
it doesn't have an sd card
only for att
att release is down graded to dual core.

today my phone froze on the boot screen. got scared since i still had til may to upgrade. I really want to wait for the one x to come to sprint but i guess if i don't see anything on phonearena.com for it. the next best is the samsung galaxy. I also wouldn't mind the note... loving the 5" screen. but thats also att.

why do they have all the cool phones?

I swear sometimes i think sprint just wants to lose more and more customers.
less phones coming out,
got rid of the premier package,
they are even charging $45 for early upgrade now. even though i've been a customer for 11 years and I missed the premier deadline by 18 days. I swear... if i didn't use up so much data, I would have already switched to att.
