Question turning off evo problems.

just today I have been unable to get my evo 4g to turn on when its been sleeping. the phone will still be on and the only way I know it didn't die was when I plugged it in the screen came on. when the screen is on I try to hit the button on top of the phone to either put it to sleep or turn it off, but nothing happens. I did take the battery out once and pushed the power button and the phone came on...I am totally clueless to what is causing this. afraid to let it go to sleep on its own after timing out, because I am afraid at some point it won't let me turn it back on. any help is much appreciated. thanks!

Question Re: turning off evo problems.

the time out settings are the same as they have always been. I did a hard reset by mashing the up, down, and power buttons. it did reset, but still will not let me use the power button otherwise.

Might be time for a replacement.

Re: turning off evo problems.

Does the power button feel like it's sticking or not working properly? might be some dirt of something stuck in there, if it was me I would try to blow some compressed air in it while pushing on the power button, and if that didn't work I would power the phone off and take the battery out and try to use some rubbing alcohol and clean that area while working the button, and lastly if that didn't work I would get it replaced.
