Evo answering and declining calls while in my pocket

This issue is new, and driving me crazy. A hard reset did not fix, and I am on a rooted stock 2.2
Starting in the late spring when the warm weather arrived, my Evo will ring, and before I can get it out of my pocket, it will decline or accept the call. Some times even the slightest movement to reach for it will trigger it.
Can anyone here recommend and alternative to the slide to answer / reject. Any apps out there that might help my issue?
On a side note, since my hard reset, I am receiving False or Phantom notification sounds. I wake up the phone, and there is nothing there. It may have something to do with the earthquake here on the east coast, but that was 4 or 5 days ago.
Thanks!

This may not be the best solution, but it is a solution. If you are like me, then it is NOT the solution you are looking for. I will however offer it to you, in case you do not find another. I suspect that your touchscreen is having issues. I do not have a solution for that.

The compromised solution that I offer you can be achieved as follows:

01. Press HOME
02. Press MENU
03. Press SETTINGS
04. Press SECURITY
05. Press SET UP LOCK SCREEN
06. Press PIN
07. Enter (your choice of pin)
08. Press OK
09. Enter (your choice of pin)
10. Press OK
11. Press HOME
12. Press POWER
13. Problem solved, but probably not in the way you desire.

This is an important issue to resolve, you might accidentally call someone, and they might accidentally hear something that you don't want them to hear. This solution is an irritant, but it is the solution that I used on my TP2, Palm Centro (yuck), and other phones. The steps involved in those phones obviously vary.

It might even be easier, as you may have turned off your lock screen. If you just have your lock screen turned off, then you might be able to just turn it back on.

Re: Evo answering and declining calls while in my pocket

when i'm mountain biking and i bring my phone, i noticed that a few pairs of shorts i own tend to act weirdly with sweat, and my phone ends up answering calls, even with a password, because you don't need the password to answer the phone. i didn't notice until i was apparently on the phone with one of my clients, and i went to take out my phone to see where i was because we had gotten lost, and she heard us talking about how we were lost in the woods and would have to eat each other.

Thanks Mike,
But I tried the this a few weeks ago, and it did not solve the problem. When it rings, it does not require a passcode to answer. I also noticed sometimes the slider doesn't respond at all, like the phone is ringing, but nothing you can do will let it answer. Maybe I should update to newer software, but I was perfectly happy with it for months untill this happend
