Camera Not Working, Help!

My Evo has been having this issue where the camera will not come on line, its hit or miss but usually happens when i really want it to work.

Also sometimes the camera comes on when i unlock it. WTF is going on.

It is rooted and just flashed the 2.3 in hope this would fix it but didnt.

Help please

Forgot to say it is not the forward facing camera. Can't even get that far lol

I had a problem with mine doing this same type thing .. i took into sprint a few times the final verdict was that the camera was loose where it mounts to the phone board so they just replaced the phone

today i just noticed that the zoom in and out on my camera was going crazy, was going back and forth like it was trying to focus on something but camera wasnt on, started after i did a soft reset.

I was going to say at first that I figured it was the kernel you was using on why your camera wasn't working, but now after reading i don't know. have you tried different roms and it happens on all the roms or just the one your using now? if it happens on all of them then it's going to be hardware related and i would unroot the phone and take it to sprint to get fixed/repaired.
