can you use an evo as a wireless network router (Not wireless teathering)

Hello I am very familiar with the wifi tethering function I often use with my evo 4g.

What I want to be able to do is use my evo as a wireless router to be able to connect my wireless printer and my laptop.

I done it on sprint hotspot before on froyo but havent try the wifi tether hack yet

can't you just ad-hoc with your printer?
