oh crap, sorry to hear that. No clue about moving the start button but that is probably a good idea. I recently noticed a thread where a guy changed the volume keys to control the camera so anything is possible. I will try to track it down. He would probably know. lol.

The only thing you can do to get access to the power button is taking off the housing so you can get direct access. Really trying to help here. This is what I would do personally.

Its six screws and a paper clip.

I had issues with my power button as well. I took the housing off and repaired it myself. Just needed to place it back in there properly.

I've also taken my rooted evo in for service twice. They replaced my earphone and also replaced the camera glass on the back. Most don't care if you're rooted or not. When it comes to hardware issues like these it doesn't matter if you're rooted or not. Tell them you'll pay for the repair out of pocket. Shouldn't cost you more than $30 to get a new power button put on.

i did some update and i came back to stock.
brought it in and its fixed(for now)..

Can you load the pc36img to the root of your SD, pull the battery, and hold volume down and power to get to the bootloader? Phone should flash itself from there..

This is my first post but a long time lurker. I have had the same issues with Android and Windows and all the cell phone company. The easiest way to get a new phone within the warranty period is to microwave it a few times for 2 or 3 seconds. They have always provided a replacement without question!!!
