I had issues with my power button as well. I took the housing off and repaired it myself. Just needed to place it back in there properly.

I've also taken my rooted evo in for service twice. They replaced my earphone and also replaced the camera glass on the back. Most don't care if you're rooted or not. When it comes to hardware issues like these it doesn't matter if you're rooted or not. Tell them you'll pay for the repair out of pocket. Shouldn't cost you more than $30 to get a new power button put on.
