Trying to go back to stock

I'm trying to go back to stock rom because I have to take my phone to a sprint store to get replaced. I've downloaded unrevocked forever s-on and when I boot it up and select recovery it takes me to a white screen that says hTC EVO 4G and it stays there. I've waited about 15 minutes and nothing. I've taken out the battery and have repeated 3 times and still the same thing. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Re: Trying to go back to stock

need more information, are you on the stock rom but just security off or are you on a custom rom?

all you should have to do is to flash a ruu stock rom file from your computer and it should return it to stock and make it just like you got from sprint, have you tried that?

Re: Trying to go back to stock

Okay sorry I didn't give that much information but i'm rooted running Myn's warm 2.2 and need to go back to stock rom just like I got it on the first day. I was watching a youtube video on how to unroot and go back to stock and in the tutorial it said to download the latest RUU sprint stock rom which I did. But it also recommended I download my htc driver which I don't know where to get that from.

Re: Trying to go back to stock

oh ok now that i know your rooted and running a custom rom. yeah just download a ruu from this link: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/cdma-htc-e...pped-roms.html and it should return your phone to stock and you shouldn't have to use the unrevoked s-off as the ruu should lock the phone back up, and here is a link to the driver: http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/lib/ex...usb-driver.zip, hope everything works out.

***EDIT***
if i'm not mistaken you should uninstall htc sync also, here's a link to the thread about how to return to stock: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/htc-evo-4g...roms-wipe.html, under post 2 there is a section 6 that has how to unroot, depends on which hboot you have but that should point you in the right direction.

Re: Trying to go back to stock

what version of windows are you using? I would also google that error code and see what you can find out about it, don't think it matters if it's for a different phone as long as it's for an android phone, looks to be some type of htc sync problem from the quick search i did, or a windows 7 issue. I would also restart the computer after you mess with htc sync, like i said i believe you have to uninstall it and you should reboot the computer after that.

***EDIT***
did a quick search on this site and here was one thread that said to use the s-on and use a stock image, here's the link: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/htc-evo-4g...ror-170-a.html

Re: Trying to go back to stock

So if I run that RUU file, it will put my phone back to stock and also unroot it?

Re: Trying to go back to stock

Yes just run the latest version of RUU Sprint stock rom and your phone will be just like the first day that you got it.

make sure you run the s-on before you flash the RUU...you won't be able to afterwards.

I know many in here claim that sprint does not check if you are rooted, others say that they can not tell. It is such a simple step, so why skip it? I have had sprint refuse my warranty and TEP for something as simple as a scratch on the battery door. They even tried to invalidate my warranty because a button fell off my mogul refurb after three hours of light usage.

if you can avoid it, its a lot easier. that is my advice. I doubt that it will change, unless Sprint makes drastic improvements to their Customer Service.

Keep in mind, some stores are better than others. Gilbert, AZ replaced my EVO with a refurb, but threatened that if they see my "other battery" again, then my warranty will not be honored on the phone again. (Its not even a cheap $10.00 battery, I have the Seidio Extended 3500, with the innocase rugged extended)
