phone replaced, but I have more problems now

Good morning guys. I took my phone in to the sprint store Friday, so that a sprint tech could look at it for the phone going from full to half instead of making incremental changes. Well, after about 5 minutes of looking at it he said I have an evo right here and started swapping things out. Well, the evo I have doesnt have the battery indicator issue, but now im having issues with internet speed. Downloads are slow and doesnt show progress. I unistalled the tether app thinking that it may needed to be reloaded. I try to reload it, but now im getting a notification about not having available free space. I am too heated right now, and im thinking about taking the phone back to sprint b/c of these issues. If anyone has suggestions please help me to resolve this issue.

Re: phone replaced, but I have more problems now

Have you rooted the new phone?? The internet problem is probably caused be a corrupt hosts file. The easiest way to fix this is delete it or download adfree from market and let it replace your current host file. What rom are you running?? Have you moved apps to the SC card to give you more memory?

I am downloading the adfree now and im going to try it. I just done a hard reset and it is still having the same problem, but I will run the program. As far as the apps, they are all being ran from internal memory.

Re: phone replaced, but I have more problems now

I think the problem is Sprint, it seems that the internet speed has slowed down significantly over the past year or two. The only time I ever get a decent speed is when I am roaming on Verizon.

Re: phone replaced, but I have more problems now

Mike id like to agree, but I cant. Before getting a new phone Friday, on 3g my speed test results would be somewhere around 1.5mbps and now im at .13mbps. This is a huge difference and the only change is the phone.

I unrooted the phone and im going up to sprint when I get off to see if the tech guy can help me with this problem. I also just done my second hard reset of the day. The phone is taking so long to update apps that they were timing out.

Re: phone replaced, but I have more problems now

My bluetooth went out on my pristine day one EVO (been in a hard case since day 1) and took it to my local Sprint service center to get fixed. They replaced the BT module but it still had connection issues (tried 3 different BT's but problems persisted). So I took it back and they said we'll get you a new phone. 3 days later it came in and of coarse it was refurbished with problems. The bottom right of the screen was lifting up and the USB/Charging port looked as if it went through a warzone. Before leaving the store, they said that they will replace the screen as it might break after awhile.

3 days later again, they called saying the screen was in so I went to have it replaced. It took them 20 minutes so I was late getting home so I just grabbed it and said thanks and went on my merry way. Upon getting home, the moron who did the work broke the plastic housing around screen in 3 places (cracks from top to bottom near the power button, bottom left corner, and volume buttons), gauged all 4 corners up from prying, and...scratched the "new" screen. I was livid to say the least.

I took it back the next day and they gladly replaced it with another "refurb". This phone works but the plastic housing around the screen was painted...with ya know...rustoleum! It has the orange peel look in places with dirt specs in different places which are quite visible like they didn't wipe it down before this superb paint job. The emblems that signify the headphone jack, USB, and hdmi are also sprayed on but I guess the person had cateracts as they are way off center making it look even more like junk.

I don't know about you, but I think that if you buy a new product with money out of pocket and is still under the manufacturers warranty and can be fixed, the product should be fixed and given back in the same condition as before. If it can't be fixed, then it should be replaced with a NEW product, not these refurbished junked up crap they try to pawn off on you. This practice these carriers engage in should be illegal, period. Especially under this circumstance. Ordering from TEP is hit and miss...it might be new or refurbished and that's even more of a hassel.

I know there is a number or email I can complain too....anyone know it off hand?

Sorry for hijacking, but this is the epitome of getting a new phone and having problems....

Re: phone replaced, but I have more problems now

I got my second replacement phone on Friday and it will have to go back. This phone has a mind of its own and the touch screen has some type of flaw. The touch buttons are being touched without being touched if you know what I mean. Its almost like there is a ghost in the phone. All I know is that I am sick of this shit. I wish I could get my first piece of shit that I took in back. The only problem that it had was the battery indication, but now all of a sudden its not as much of a problem as I thought.

Re: phone replaced, but I have more problems now

I know all carriers do this but it's BS! I can understand if it were free due to subsidizing but you pay money out of pocket and then pay for the rest in your monthly bill. And then these so called new phones stop working and they give you a phone that's either physically or mechanically worse to replace it!

There needs to be a consumer law protecting us from this crap. I understand that we can contact HTC with a warranty claim but I can't be without my phone for 2 weeks or longer. Period. I have a 19 month old and my cell is my only way of communicating with my wife because of my job.....a dump truck driver and on the road 10-12 hours a day.
