Sprint 4g: LTE?
Hello,
I know there has been threads on whether Sprint will go to LTE over Wimax and what that would bring. However, I saw this video on Clearwire's website when I was googling when Phoenix would get 4g (Probably never). Just thought it was interesting that Clearwire is running LTE tests and posted this video on their website, possibly to attract some carriers or perhaps showing subtle signs that Sprint might stick with them and use wimax & lte for 4g coverage... I'm not too technological savvy but hopefully somebody finds this as interesting as I did... Clearwire :: Featured Story |

Re: Sprint 4g: LTE?
Same here where I live. They said coming soon! I got an email saying there was 4g in my town. They made a point to send an email about it. There is a golf course on the edge of town against the state line. The 4g is in the middle of a fairway! LOL PERFECT!

Re: Sprint 4g: LTE?
This would suck for us EVO [4G/3D/Shift]/Epic users, since our phones don't come with radios to support LTE. If they decide to swap over, I wonder how long we have before they shut down WiMax and change it up to purely LTE.
Either way for those of us who are poor and can't afford to upgrade so often, this will suck for us. (Before anyone complains not to get a phone if you can't afford it, I'm on a family plan and still in college, so it's perfectly reasonable.)

Re: Sprint 4g: LTE?
first of all sprint is sticking with clearwire all the way in..they have no choice..Clearwire has the 2.5ghz spectrum that they need to deploy it a whopping 150mhz on it..with that much spectrum they can run LTE/Wimax and the kitchen sink all at the same time...
As for decommissioning of wimax..well they may plan to keep wimax for residential gateways/rent it or if they plan to decommission it that will take them like 4 years..thats how long its taking them to decommission 800mhz spectrum...but as I said they got enough spectrum to do anything they want...

Easiest way to put it is, LTE uses SIM cards, and we don't have a SIM card slot, so I don't think we have the radio. So no LTE for us Wimax phone users. |
