htc evo rooting help
i need help rooting htc evo... i have been searching and tried number of root methods but still cant do it... i have rooted my previous htc evo but it was when it first came out... i am familiar with rooting but it doesnt seem to work... havent done it since last summer....


here is my info:

android version : 2.2
baseband version : 2.15.00.11.19
kernel version : 2.6.21.17-gee57fd htc-kernel@and18-2#15
build number : 3.70.651.1 cl294884
software number : 3.70.651.1
browser version : webkit 3.1
pri version : 1.90_003
prl version : 6077
hardware version : 0002
hboot version: 2.10.001
microp : 041f
radio-2.15.00.11.19


i am using windows 7 64-bit home premium edition



please help....

unrevoked is the easiest method to root. As KarlE suggested, read through that thread to get everything set up the way you need to, then use unrevoked3 to root.

Ok... I just smacked you on the Thanks...
So... Do I need to hard reset my EVO to begin this process? Or just follow the insturctions even though I have a ton of apps already installed?

no hardrest needed just do a nand backup after root
use RA recovery

well followed the unrevoked3 method downloaded drivers and recorvy tool. oh iam using windows. followed the steps debug phone put in hboot then load drivers then reboot then run unrevoked but it gets the point where it says running root then stops and say.is your firmware to new? my info :hboot2.10,Hardware version 0004,android 2.2,Baseband2.15.00.11.19,kernel 2.6.32.17-gee557fd htc-kernel@and18-2#15,Build number 3.70.651.1 cl294884 release-keys,software version 3.70.651.1............. plzzzzz help me. i just did on my friends phone but he had hardware version 0003 and not the latest software.....plzzzzz help.thx
