Question regarding contacts in my EVO

OK, this is probably not EVO related, rather Android related. Here is what I trying to figure out. When I add a contact with a "Home" phone number, after I am done, it always shows the home phone number and a "send message" box to the number I put under "Home" phone number. How do you get rid of that?
