biig problem, need to take broken lcd to sprint but phone is rooted - Page 2

oh which screen/lcd is the good one. i know there were two different ones and i am pretty sure i looked at mine when i got it and it was the newer one. is it the 004 or is that something else? i want to make sure they don't put the crappy one in there when i get it back

Neither of them are crappy. They're just made by two different manufacturers, AUO and Sharp. Each has a different type of connector, so you'll get whichever screen you currently have.

If your phone gets past the Sprint store, you are home free. And since your screen is broken, it will.

You won't have a choice of screens, the 3 different screens come with 3 different connectors so they can only replace your screen with the one that matches your connector (ribbon cable). If they don't have your screen in stock they will replace your Evo so make sure you grab out your sd card and ask if you can keep the battery for a spare.

dont worry about it at all.... your coming in for a Physical issue, not software.. therefore your ROOT doesnt have anything to do with your issue... it'll be replaced no probs

Ok so everyone that said not to worry was right. I went in today and dropped it off. An hour later I picked it up with a brand new screen. No questions asked about the root.

No worries. Take it in as is and let the techs replace your screen. If they say anything just smile and say "...and I bet your EVO is rooted with custom rom also". And ask to see another sprint employee's EVO and chances are it will be rooted also. Be nice to them and they will be nice to you.

S&R issues not related to software do not warrant checking root in the first place, since a cracked screen wasn't caused by unofficial software.

And yes, probably 95% of Sprint employees that own an Evo have it rooted.

Just curious,what kind of insurance do you guys have that lets you repair a broken LCD for free? I forgot the plan I have but basically if theres anything wrong with my phone thats not my fault its free but if I have any physical damage I have to pay the 100 deductable.
