Re: Help! Lost All Contacts!
After messing around with gmail contacts and my phone, I have realized that my contacts were never synced with gmail. I came to this conclusion by thinking my gmail contacts disappeared so had gmail restore my contacts back to last week, this only removed the one contact I added over the past week and explains why my phone shows only like 5 contacts.
Further more, on the Evo, my going Contacts > Menu > View it shows my Google for having 50 contacts (which is correct but many don't have numbers) and my phone having 0. So it looks like I lost all of the numbers Sprint transferred over to my phone. Anyone have ideas on how that could happen? Now to figure out how to get my Address Book on my Mac to my phone... |

Re: Help! Lost All Contacts!
if you put the numbers in before setting up your gmail account this can happen. also depending on how you added them to the phone they maybe been saved to the phone and not the gmail account. best best is to get them back to how you want, hit menue and then import/export and export them to your sd card. i see this all the time because our local best buy either doesnt know or doesnt care and customers end up losing their contacts.

That's a tough one...
I wonder what your phone did to delete the contacts... It doesn't sound logical... Had you recently checked the contacts on your gmail account? p. I sync my contacts to my gmail and my hotmail account. JUST IN CASE. |

Re: Help! Lost All Contacts!
It isn't logical at all. I had not checked my google contacts recently actually but do remember my phone saying I had like 350 phone contacts and like 50 google and never thought to check into it because I thought it was okay and then this happened. Luckily those 350 are the ones I had saved on my Mac from Windows Mobile days and after a bit of work, my phone is now back to the way it was. I am exporting them to my SD card though so I don't have to go through this again.
I am just a bit concerned about what caused this. I did have to pull the battery out this morning because of the non responsive touch screen but that isn't that radical... it is working like a champ now though... I am just luckly to have had them backed up... Brian |

Re: Help! Lost All Contacts!
Glad to hear you're back in business...
Yeah... I would like to know what caused it to. So I can avoid whatever it was. LOL. My wife managed to delete ALL her numbers from her phone and from her hotmail contacts. Luckily in typical Microsoft fashion... Hotmail deletes the numbers into a folder that acts like the recycling bin. I was able to retreive all the numbers and then just re synced her phone... She doesn't know what she did to make them go away. lol. |
