System Updates not working!

Ever since I rooted my phone, I haven't been able to use system updates to update my profile, PRL or anything. I read the first post where it said you should do it after installing the radios, but my phone will not do it. I've left update profile running for 20mins and it never completed. its just stays at "the network is preparing your services". It never blinks or moves. Right now, I turned the screen to always on and I'm running it again. But I'm sure it wont update,.

I believe this is way my phone is missing so many calls lately. I was sitting right next to my friend calling my phone last night to lock my number in and it never rang after 4 calls. I call it the other day from my hone 3 times before it rang.

Anybody else having this issue?

Try unrooting your phone and then updating.

If I unroot and update can I get root back after updating? I have an older model EVO. I dotn think I have that new HBoot.I have hardware version 0003.

How do I unroot?

I used Unrevooked to Root and then I used Unrevoked Forever.

Are you using a custom rom? This could be a problem, as many custom roms have guts removed from them.

I read a similar post with people trying to use ##3282#, (EPST) and having trouble with custom roms, because the EPST.APK is missing from the rom. I would think the update features that you are referring to might be dependent upon that apk.

I just installed a custom kernel for the first time. I did the SD card hack, and hosed it.

Just completed the Unroot process. I ran system updates and it worked no problem. So now I need to root again.

Maybe your were right about the custom kernel. I Rooted again with Unrevoked and used Unrevoked Forever and I can update the system no problem

For the kernels, make sure you are using a sense kernel not an aosp kernel. Also make sure you clear dalvik cache after flashing a kernel.
