Re: Browsing Issue

So I just realized Android Mate doesn't really delete it, even though it says it does. I guess I'll have to buy that Root Explorer and try again.

Re: Browsing Issue

Okay, after using ES File Explorer (free) to delete the hosts file, it did resolve the browsing issue.

Not sure why Android mate says it deletes it when it really doesn't, but ES File Explorer works if anyone out there is looking for a free alternative to Root Explorer.

Re: Browsing Issue

The hosts file has something to do with the ad supported software so an app like adfree android uses the hosts file to block ads. I don't know if the host file became corrupted or if android is using something new to push ads to our phones and the adfree android host file was blocking it thus causing the browser to stop working.

Re: Browsing Issue

Correct, Updating the Host file in ADFREE fixed my slow connectivity.

May not be instant for some, may take a few minutes and i cleared davlik just in case.

For others you might want to try a reboot after updating host file.

glad to be back to normal!

I had the same problem. Make sure after you open Root Explorer you tap the mount R/W button at the top. You can delete the file now.

Re: Browsing Issue

Man, I got so frustrated with this issue a couple day ago I flashed to a stock rooted sprint rom, which resolved my browser problems. I might go back with Sprint Lovers and try the ADFREE update and see if that works.
