Keyboard not typing

Ive searched....

Has anyone had a problem with the Evo's keyboard not typing but the keyboard responds with hepatic and key enlarged as it was actually typing but nothing shows in the text field. I have had this problem with the calender, google search and text messages both messaging and handcent. Now this isnt isolated to just my phone which is rooted with different roms with the same problem. But my wifes phone also which is stock. Both phones are launch phones. Just seeing if anyone else has the problem or if someone knows of a solution.

I have the same problem albeit infrequently. I don't know what causes it but I simply reboot and it works fine. I know these phones should be rebooted everyone once in a while just like regular PCs. Sometimes installing and/or uninstalling new programs will cause conflicts. Just my .02.

I have typed up a text and then not have it respond to the Send Key. After thorough investigation, I believe it turned out to be a focus problem of sorts, pertaining to the problem we are having knowcking down the keyboard to get to the send key.

ive had the same problem over the past few days. Are you rooted? I think it might have to do something with the super user rights. I have to wait until SU grants permission and then I can type. Toggling the KB or backing out dont work either.

Have you tried calibrating your keyboard? Reset the phone? Pull the battery? Hard Reset?

Thats what I would do..Hard reset being the last resort.

I'm no noob to this, not being defensive, but I've wiped my dalvic cache, wiped data for messaging, reset (soft only). Only thing I havent done is a hard reset. Thought it would work itself out somehow.

This happens to my rooted phone as well as my girls fully stock unrooted phone. After thinking about this for a while I think this specific issue has started since the last 3.70 update but I could be wrong. Most custom roms are also based on the same build as well.

Common sense says to do these things before trying anything else. If my keyboard wasn't working then I would start out doing a calibration..the screen alignment could be off...resetting the phone...can and will sometimes fix these kids of issues. Hard Reset is the last resort to try.

And last but not least...it can be an app that said person installed causing the problem...both his phone and his wifes.....so yes...experience and evidence I have.

I've owned the Touch Pro and Touch Pro 2....both had weird issues like this that cropped up from time to time...so yes I have had the experience...

I was experiencing this problem for a while as well. I came to the conclusion that my problem was the Task Killer. If you have the Auto Kill Level set too aggressive and Security Level set too low, it will force close the files necessary for the keyboard to function properly. I set my ''auto kill level'' back to Safe and "Security Level" to at least Medium. I changed my settings about one month ago and have not had a problem since. Hope this helps...
