Why does battery die quick when watching a movie?

Is there a way to save battery life when watching a movie on my Evo? My Evo will be fully charged and i'll watch a 2 hour movie and by the end of the movie my battery will be almost dead. But I remember watching a movie on my Touch Pro starting with a full charge and by the end of a 2 hour movie my TP would be at like 87%.

I can assure you that after watching a 2 hours movie there isn't anyway you still had 87% battery life left on a touch pro.

Re: Why does battery die quick when watching a movie?

Even without watching a movie, you're gonna lose a substantial amount of battery life just having your screen on for two hours straight. If you plan to watch a movie, be near an outlet, or carry a spare battery.

I think Im going to call you on that one....lol Or maybe you had the extended battery. There is no way to save battery when watching a movie on the Evo. Its just energy consuming. Thats the reason I just keep it plugged in everywhere I go.

Re: Why does battery die quick when watching a movie?

With the new kernel(#15v7) I can watch 2 movies on a single charge. I got the Seidio 1750mAh battery.

Re: Why does battery die quick when watching a movie?

I watch a lot of movies on my phone. I also have the extended Sedio battery. One of the bigger pleassures my wife and I have is camping and watching a couple of movies. We ride the Harley through the mountains and camp for a week at a time. Sometimes I string the cable from the Harley into the tent but lately I don't. When I am done, I just plug the phone in and let it charge eth remainder of the night in the saddle bag. Having said that, I think I can get through a full length ~700mb movie with external stereo speakers and better than 80%. I have no complaints.

Re: Why does battery die quick when watching a movie?

try watching movies in air plane mode or with the data off & screen brightness set to about 35-50%

also if ur watchin HD movies u converted its gonna use more power to process em.

rock player plays xvid avi files and those look great but arent 720p. light processor usage.

Re: Why does battery die quick when watching a movie?

You are right. I often turn to Airplane mode because the coverage is gone in the mountains. There people are still using smoke signals.

I have the brightness on Auto (Act 1 Video) which lowers it in a dark tent.

In truth, with the extended battery, I just quit thinking about it. I once got down to 30% and had a panic attack. that is how rare it is.
