Clearing Memory Card A2SD

I just got done dealing with a 4G issue that was driving me nuts (See http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/htc-evo-4g...t-connect.html).

Now I've got a nice shiney new formatted rooted EVO with OMJ's latest ROM. But I also have a really ugly looking memory card. I feel like there's a ton of garbage on there and I'd like to clean it out.

Question: I've copied the entire contents of my sd card to my computer, saved all my nand backups, etc. If I'd like, could I just delete/format my card and start over? I'm on OMJ's latest 2.2 ROM (v.4.4). I can only think of a couple things on there that would affect the phone. First, a2sd. Where are those things stored? A2sd's own partition, right? Second, Ti Backup.

Obviously there are a ton of folders on the SD card that I didn't create (Music, many app-specific folders, etc.) Would the phone create those as-needed going forward?

Thanks will be given for help.

Re: Clearing Memory Card A2SD

Those things that you moved with Apps2SD can just be reinstalled from the market. Avoid clutter and start out fresh. The one thing Sprint does very poorly is clean up after itself, as far as SDCard is concerned.

Re: Clearing Memory Card A2SD

Thanked.

But you know what. Turns out I'm more confused than I thought I was. Regarding a2sd, I assumed that the OMJ ROM had it as a pre-installed program because the "Overview" screen in TI Backup shows internal , SD Card, and SD Card (a2sd) storage. However, a2sd does not appear to be installed on my phone. The space reported for both Internal and SD card (a2sd) memory is identical.

Oh yeah, and it turns out I only have 66.4 MB of free internal storage left. Time to clean things up for sure.

Thanks again.

Re: Clearing Memory Card A2SD

it has apps2sd
which is this
[Script][A2SD] Darktremor Apps2SD 2.7.5.2 (10/03/2010) - xda-developers
this allows you to partition your sd card and run the partition part as internal memory for app installation
and if u have a class 6 sdcard you can run the cache from it

OMJ, My card is also in disarray. So if I format my card completely, flash a new rom, all necc files ect will be created? I am not trying to backup anything. Thanks.

I just went for it and cleared it all out. So far so good. Folders are created as they are needed. Just make sure you copy all contents to another location (or two, just to be safe), especially your backups (Titanium Backup, My Backup, Nandroid, Clockwork, etc.)

What's the benefit of running cache from the SD card? Just more room?
